The 2010 Olympics in Vancouver sure is bringing back a lot of fond memories for me. . I opened the Lefebre and Burke Weight Loss & Laser Centre on Wednesday, March 2nd, 1988, three days after the Calgary Winter Olympics closed. I remember quite well, that it was a leap year that year and I recall very vividly that we were frantically painting and putting the finishing touches to our office on Monday, Feb.29, 1988 in preparation for our opening two days later. I’ve said many times over the years that the torch went out on the Calgary Olympics on Sunday and the Lefebre and Burke Weight Loss & Laser Centre lights were turned on 3 days later! It also makes me reflect back to our rapid growth that we experienced and the eight various clinics that we have had over the last 22 years.

Where has the time gone?

It’s been a couple of years now since I wrote a newsletter to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. In that letter, I acknowledged and thanked the people who are working with me at the Clinic and I would like to do that again today.

Dr. Peggy Burke and Dr. Jackie Safran have been with me since July of 1989. Dr Burke has been taking over more of my duties over the last while (as many of you know, I have been semi retired for the last few years). Rose started on March 9th, 1988- one week after I opened. Judy started in September of 1988 and continues to be our Office Manager. Glenda has been with us for over 20 years now and Vera has been with us for the most part since October of 1990. Michelle began in 1995 and continues to do computer work for us after hours. . Joanne has been with is for over 8 years and Erin since May 2004. Newer faces in our office that we have welcomed in the last two years are Chris in October of 08 and Ilona in January of 2009.
I would at this time also like to acknowledge and thank my brother Tony, who has been my Business Manager since day one.

I would like to sincerely thank all of the above people and of course you, our patients, who have all made the last 22 years of my medical career so enjoyable, rewarding and fulfilling
